K-pop boy band BTS claim Taylor Swifts YouTube music video debut crown

The South Korean group’s most recent album, “Love Yourself: Tear”, debuted at No 1 on the American Billboard 200 album chart in May – the highest-charting album in US history for a K-pop or Korean act.

BTS’ previous single, Fake Love, peaked at No 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in May and has been certified as “gold” by the Recording Industry Association of America – the trade organisation of the US music industry – with sales of more than 500,000 streaming-equivalent units.

The seven-member group, whose members are now in their early to mid-20s, released its first album, “2 Cool 4 Skool”, in 2013.
